copper plates

We are happy to offer you copper cuts upon request.

Buy a large selection of copper plates for various applications

In addition to aluminum, our range also includes plates made of copper. We offer material thicknesses of 1.0 mm - 6.0 mm in the alloy SF-Cu / Cu-DHP . For thicknesses from 8.0 mm, the plates are supplied in SE-Cu / Cu-HCP .

SF Cu

The alloy SF-Cu (according to the old DIN) is the material CW024A. This deoxidized, oxygen-free copper is excellent for welding, soldering and forming and is often used in construction (pipes, roof and wall cladding) as well as in apparatus construction.

SE Cu

High-purity copper in alloy SE-Cu (according to old DIN) has material number CW021A. This material is also deoxidized copper with very good electrical conductivity properties. Common welding and soldering, as well as hot forming possible. Often used as a component in electrical engineering. Both copper variants have a copper content of at least 99.90% and are therefore also excellent conductors of heat. Your desired item not listed? Feel free to contact us! General information, what is copper?

Copper is one of the relatively soft metals and is listed as Cu in the periodic table of elements. Along with gold and silver, copper is one of the first metals in history to be used by humans. This is partly due to the fact that the metal was very easy to process. Copper is used in many areas, whether for decorative or technical purposes. The soft metal has a typical reddish-orange color and is cool to the touch. Due to its noble appearance, the semi-precious metal finds a place as a decoration in private households and is valued by industry for its excellent properties as a conductor of electricity and heat. Due to its low internal resistance, copper is preferred in power cables and used to dissipate heat in technical devices and structures such as heat exchangers or finned coolers in PC systems.

What is copper and what is it used for?

Copper is extracted from copper mines around the world and is one of the most common elements on earth. The largest copper producer is Chile, followed by Peru and China. The aforementioned reddish metal is very popular as a raw material.

Copper is characterized by good thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity. It is also weather-resistant and can be produced in many different forms by the copper-processing industry. We have already discussed the various uses in electrics and electronics above. Copper objects are also very popular for decoration. In addition, utensils such as crockery, cups, mugs, vases and much more can be made from copper.

It should also be mentioned that although copper is very weather-resistant, corrosion cannot be ruled out. Copper corrosion can be recognized by its greenish deposit on the copper surface. Although this no longer looks quite as nice because the copper-colored tone disappears, the corrosion does not progress any further. The copper corrosion that develops on the surface serves as a protective layer and makes a copper plate, for example, absolutely insensitive to further weather influences.

The correct dimensions of your copper plate

If you would like to buy a copper plate from us, you can first choose between the two alloys SE-Cu and SF-Cu. We do not offer you copper plates in fixed sizes in advance. You can enter your desired copper plate in millimeters in the order overview. Simply enter the length and width. Finally, you can order a copper plate from us with a thickness of 1 mm to 30 mm. This allows stable and individual constructions to be produced.

Care

Anyone who owns copper objects will certainly be familiar with the term verdigris. Due to oxidation with oxygen, copper darkens over time and turns greenish, which is completely normal and is part of the nature of copper. Even with simple household remedies, copper can be polished to a high gloss again with little effort. The shimmering shine can be retained over a long period of time. Other materials alloyed with copper are also protected against rust.

Care of Copper

If you want to clean a tarnished, slightly corroded copper plate, you can mix vinegar essence with water and a little salt. This cleaner is applied to the affected copper area with a cloth. After a short exposure time, rinse your copper plate under warm water.

Stubborn dirt can be removed directly with vinegar and salt. An old toothbrush is particularly good for this. Finally, the surface is rubbed down with a soft cloth and polished. Your copper plate will then shine again in fresh splendor. This cleaning is also possible with other decorative pieces.

Applications from computers to vases

  • mechanical engineering
  • furniture making
  • Electrical engineering
  • infrastructure expansion
  • construction
  • medicine
  • art creation
  • household / decoration

The possible uses are diverse. If you have any further questions about copper, we are always available by phone or in writing by e-mail and would be happy to advise you on your project.

The use of copper plates

A copper plate has been used to cover house roofs for generations. Many church towers have a copper roof. Due to natural corrosion, a green patina forms on the copper surface, which promises the copper a long service life.

Here in the shop you can order copper sheets in different sizes. You may wish to use narrow copper facings indoors and outdoors. For example, you can subsequently cover a wooden beam with a copper plate to make the construction windproof and waterproof.

A copper plate can also be used to create decorative covers indoors. They serve partly as edge protection. Hobby electronics enthusiasts use a copper plate as a heat sink, for example. This is where good thermal conductivity comes into play. Larger electrical contacts can also be made with a copper plate.

Copper can be reliably soldered together with the right temperature and solder. Drilling and sawing do not present any major difficulties either. All you need is a metal drill or metal saw. A copper plate can be bent into different shapes by heating it. But cold bending of copper is also possible, depending on the thickness of the material.
