What actually is an aluminum hexagonal tube?

In short, this is an extruded or drawn aluminum that forms a solid rod with six edges. When viewed from above, the shape is reminiscent of the head of a hexagon nut. So it is not surprising that instead of the diameter, the wrench size is basically measured here.

A hexagonal tube made of AlCuMgPb has a high tensile strength of up to 470 N/mm². The hardness is specified as a maximum of 140 Brinell. As with all aluminum products, thermal conductivity also plays a role. Here this is around 1.5 W/cm in degrees Celsius.

The surface is kept mill-finished. Due to the copper content and the special alloy, we cannot offer you these hexagonal profiles anodized in silver. However, these aluminum tubes can be easily painted or powder coated. Individual shaping is also possible by applying heat.

What is a hexagonal tube needed for?

A hexagonal tube made of aluminum can be used for various purposes. There are certainly cases in which you have to make a custom-made hexagon wrench yourself, for example. By applying heat, you can easily make your own socket wrench from this material.

If you use a lathe to thread the bottom of the hexagonal tube beforehand, you will be able to attach the entire tube more easily later. Aluminum made from the AlCuMgPb alloy is very easy to process further. You can shorten this with a hacksaw, round it in a lathe or sand it with a file. You benefit from a wide range of possible uses.
